šŸ‘‹ Hi, I’m Marc Hoag

You probably know me from my podcast,Ā Autonomous Cars with Marc Hoag. Launched in 2018, IĀ grew the podcast to 199 episodes in about 2 years and managed to land the #1 organic result on Google for "autonomous cars podcasts."

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a UCLA Econ graduate with a heavy math/science background, and a California-licensed attorney. I’m a venture-backed startup founder from San Francisco with several startups behind me where my primary role was product manager driving company vision, roadmap, and strategy.

While I’m decently competent at frontend web development (HTML/CSS/some JS) I consider myself a ā€œnon-technical PM,ā€ i.e., one who can talk the talk without necessarily walking the walk; the liaison between user and engineer.

I currently sit on the advisory board for a California-based teleops startup, while most recently I co-founded an autonomous vehicle consultancy with several academics in Europe. So this newsletter pulls together my academic interests in science with my professional expertise in technology, not to mention my deeply passionate concern for all things climate.

While I decide where to take my podcast next, I recently discovered and was hugely inspired by Dan Ni's phenomenal daily newsletter,Ā TLDR which provides bite-sized summaries of the top news in engineering, science, and technology. (Make sure you subscribe to his newsletter too if you haven’t yet!)

Just like I launched my podcast in 2018 because of a lack of podcasts covering the autonomous vehicle space, I noticed there wasn't a daily newsletter covering my passions of climate change, clean energy, and of course, autonomous and electric vehicles.

Hence Future Perfect.

My hope is that if you're a scientist, engineer, founder, academic, student, activist, lobbyist, politician, or are otherwise interested or involved in these interrelated fields, then this daily newsletter will make it easier for you to stay on top everything you need to know.

As I’ve always said in my podcast, ā€œautonomous cars represent the greatest step change in humanity since the industrial revolution.ā€ I still believe this to be true.

But there is nothing more singularly and crucially important than climate change.

I hope that you'll subscribe and help me grow this newsletter.

Thanks very much. šŸ™
